Today, once again, was a gorgeous day in our beautiful city. Sunny. Warm. Clear blue skies. Just great to be out and about. After doing some work at the UW, I had to stop at Agua Verde Cafe and Paddle Club on Boat Street to enjoy the view, the water and pick up the Summer Kayak Rentals schedule for the Summer. The cafe, on a day like today (as it is every day for lunch) was packed, with a line out to the street and waiting list to get in. I had no time to eat at the café (some of the best, freshest, most authentic Mexican food you'll have in Seattle with the one of the nicest views) but plan to stop by later this week.
In the meantime here are the Kayak rental rates: Single-$12/hr, Double-$16/hr, Triple-$18/hr with a 3rd hour free on weekdays (not on holidays and does not apply for reservations) with one hour minimum. Rates are pro-rated after the first hour. Plus tax.
After you return to the dock, go upstairs to the cafe to enjoy great tacos (halibut, smoked salmon, spicy grilled catfish, black cod, yams, Mexican squash, marinated flank steak, charbroiled chicken, shredded pork) tortas (sandwiches), quesadillas, nachos, ensaladas (salads), beans, rice, potatoes and their salsa bar. Have a piece of Key lime pie, Mocha layer cake with prickly pear syrup or Coconut Flan. Seat outside on the terrace if you can. Lovely view and breeze.
They strive to serve all-natural farm raised meats, sustainably caught seafood and organic fruits and vegetables. Their staff is very friendly and efficient, the food is ultra-fresh and delicious and the owners are commited to keeping the customers happy and their employees well taken care of. Those to me are more than enough reasons to support this hidden and understated gem, a well known secret amongs the UW family of employees and students.
