Tom Douglas, Lola and the new Hotel Ändra

This space does not look like much now but soon, real soon, it will become Tom Douglas's new  restaurant, Lola. Heard through the restaurant grapevine that it is scheduled to open early July. Lola, the name of Jackie Cross's (Tom's wife and partner) grandmother is opening at 2000 Fourth Avenue, in downtown Seattle, adjacent to the new Hotel Ändra, what used to be the old Claremont Hotel, recently re-opened. The restaurant will served Greek food (Jackie is half-Greek) with a Northwest twist. I, for one, cannot wait!

Hotel Ändra , by the by, is lovely. Took a little tour of it yesterday  afternoon on the way to Café Campagne , Pike Market and SAM's Van Gogh to Mondrian: Modern Art from the Kröller-Müller Museum.


I liked it so much (such friendly staff) I'm considering making a reservation soon just to try one of its rooms out. Swedish modern, trendy. Hip. Very Belltown. Only three blocks away from Pike Place Market, Hotel Ändra is a great addition our neighborhood and to the city. Its just in the right spot for shopping, great dining and doing business.

Hotel guests have been enjoying breakfast across the street at Dahlia Lounge (while non-hotel guests can go for breakfast or lunch next door at Dahlia Bakery, now opening Sundays 11-4. Those looking to dine on Northern Italian specialties have Assaggio Ristorante right next door.
