IMBB? No. 9: Layers and layers (Terrines): Meinhardt's 5 Game Terrine With Pork And Cranberries
So…since we were going to be in Vancouver, shopping around for food schtuff anyway, while browsing the deli at Meinhardt Fine Foods we purchased a slice of one of the many kinds of terrines they have for sale.
They had gorgeous terrines made out of ostrich, wild boar, foie gras, duck and chicken liver, ostrich and pork, wild boar and apricot, smoked salmon, rabbit and pork, caribou and pork. They also had a 5 Game Terrine With Pork And Cranberries--, made out of organic Wild Boar, Pheasant, Ostrich, Venison and Bison--which is the one we picked--along with some table water crackers, beautiful grapes from Urban Fare--to have for IMBB # 9 and to eat on the train ride back to Seattle.
When we boarded the train we realized a couple that had taken the Seattle-Vancouver train with us on Saturday, had sat in the row in front of us and had even stayed at the same hotel we stayed at, were also going back on our same train and, get this…also lived in our building!
We got to talking and by the time the train left the Vancouver Station I already knew we would share the terrine with them. Mr. C got little plates and a plastic knife from the bistro car and I divided the terrine on little plates with crackers and grapes. The terrine was delicious and just enough for us four to sample. Next time we are in Vancouver I am buying some of Meinhardt’s Caribou With Figs Terrine. That one looked pretty darned good too.

SBV,
1)Happy Anniversary!
2)Your mention of wild boar made me think of Weber's opera, "Der Freischutz".
3)The terrines...heavenly!
4)Do you have a high metabolism? ;~)
1)Thanks a bunch! It has been a great 11!
2)And it reminded me of LOST, Wednesday on ABC (I'm hooked!). There a few of them running around on the island.
3)They were delish!
4)Not as high as it used to be. I'm in my 30's so I can no longer get home at midnight to cook a pot of pasta before bed. :-)
