After a lovely holiday I finally went back to work today. As I was working walking distance from home on my way back from 2nd & Lenora I made a pit stop at the bakery for bread, lunch and a couple sweet treats.
I picked up my beloved Ficelle, the one I missed so much even while in Paris, with a gazillion boulangeries around us. Mr. C prepared dinner last Friday night--garlic-ginger chicken and vegetable soup--and this bread was of course de rigueur and the first food item we purchased upon our return home to Seattle.
But I digress...my point was that among the sweets brought home earlier today was not only their mini-buttermilk cake that I adore but also a cupcake which I carried in a tiny box with extra TLC, walking with feathery feet those few blocks home.
This little gem, is one of the cutest cupcakes you'll come across in the city of Seattle. A dainty chocolate cake in a cup graced by the most scrummy--and I am not a frosting eater--vanilla buttermilk petaly top.
I've enjoyed these cupcakes many times before but this time my justification for bring this teeny tiny cake home was, ejem... research. A reminder of things to come.
A motivation to start refreshing my memory with local cupcakes and perhaps derive some inspiration. You see, while we were away in Paris, the next edition of Is My Blog Burning (#13) was announced and the host, Maki of I was just really very hungry chose My Little Cupcake (or muffin) as the theme.
So, if you love cupcakes and or muffins--who doesn't?-- this is your chance to participate in a world wide food blogging event that is always lots of fun to join in and of course that renders plenty of edible goodies (and recipes) to partake of as a reward for the elbow grease.
Just think of all the possibilities, flavors and colors and textures for creating cupcakes and muffins. All the potential of cuteness and whimsy. And all the ways one can introduce the color pink which I'm always game for.
So go see Maki for all the details and see you on the 24th!
