Taste: Queen Anne Thursdays Farmers Market

Hand_pies

A reminder that the Queen Anne Thursday Farmers Market is going on today from 3:30 to 7pm. On my last visit I was able to take home pretty cupcakes from Wink, cherries and red raspberries and blueberries galore.

I was also absolutely thrilled to find that Cynthia Brock --of Sweet & Savory in Mount Baker-- and crew had brought up a table full of beautiful pastries, cookies and pies. There were Almond-Lemon Madeleines, Blueberry Hand Pies, savory tarts, croissants and pain au chocolat.

On my way to the car I spotted a crêpe stand and ordered--mostly to try it out-- their delectable ham, cheese and organic spinach version. It was so lovely and filling (she even added an egg) that I went home happy as a clam, with a belly full and no need to cook dinner for one.

reading your blog and orangette's blog makes me want to move to seattle immediately! those pies look amazing.

Isn't that lil' market great? I'm the pastry chef just a few blocks down the street at Betty. I go every Thursday and make a dessert special out of what I found there. Having said that, the Ballard farmer's market is hands down, my favorite. I always feel like I'm away from it all.

I'm going to the farmers market today thanks to your feature...I hope the cupcakes are around today too!

I will have to check this out.

There is another pretty sweet farmer's market at MLK and Union, in the Central District near Madrona and Madison Valley. It is Friday from 3-7 PM, in the parking lot of Grocery Outlet. It used to be in a grass lot that had a little more charm, but it is nice of Grocery Outlet to let everyone use their space, and the produce has been terrific.

Yay, good to see your posts again! I'll have to check out Queen Anne's market. Meanwhile, been to Ballard lately?? I'm really curious what you think of Miro Tea.

Hi Ballardite!

I come to Ballard often but lately it has been mostly to visit Camera Techs to get vintage cameras repaired. However, your wish is my command, so... ;D

I've been looking at them in your flickr over and over again...and like I have just told you, they remind me of a special blueberry pie I've had many years ago...I should try to recover the recipe! :)

YAY! It's so good to see you back. I've missed you & your insider Seattle tips...Looking forward to more. :)

Cheers!

Oh, Viv, those pies are gorgeous! My visit to the QA market today was short and focused - just veggies and blueberries, and only two photos! I wish I'd noticed the blueberry pies; I'll make a point to look next Thursday, when I'll have more time.

BTW, the market is open 3:00-7:00 every Thursday until October 4.

I looked at your wonderful pictures of Puerto Rico and specially the food. It made me so hungry. Do you know any place in Seattle where I can get Puerto Rican food?

What MC said.

We have another friend who is so happy to have a market near her. I wish the U district would go to a twice a week market, I'm not brave enough to battle Lake City traffic.

I am so happy that you are writing again! I hope you are well.

Thanks MC! You re so sweet! Life these days is 10 times as busy (and fun) as it has been in the past but I'll try to write as often as possible. I even purchased a MacBook to allow me to do just that. :)

Cheers, V
