Last year a group of food bloggers around the world got together to raise money for the Tsunami Relief efforts. The event was called A Menu For Hope. Thanks to the generosity of readers like you, over a thousand dollars were collected during the event.
Now, ten months later, the food blogging community is getting together once again to help UNICEF support our brothers and sisters victims of the earthquake in the Kashmir region of Northern India and Pakistan with A Menu for Hope II.
This time around a much larger group of bloggers from all corners of the world are participating. Instead of creating a virtual menu we are each donating time and exciting and fun food and wine related items in a sort of worldwide virtual raffle.
Here's the gist of it as described by Pim, the organizer of the event:
1. Find the gift you would like on our menu.
2. Go to A Menu for Hope II donation page and donate $5 or whatever sum you could spare.
3. Tell us in the comment section of your donation form which gift(s) you would like have. Each $5 donation will give you one chance at winning the prize of your choice. (Yes, if you donate more than $5, you are allowed to specify more than one prize.)
Here at Seattle Bon Vivant we are offering a few of my favorite things, an assortment of goodies, hand picked and purchased by me in Seattle and Paris. The box will include:
1-a jar of delicious Moustarde Violette
2- a tin of one of my favorite Fauchon loose tea blends
3-a bottle of Washington dessert wine from my personal cellar
4-a jar of my beloved Christine Ferber jam of my choice (purchased at Pierre Hermé)
And, as a special thank you from yours truly, the winner may choose any one (1) of the following three books I'm absolutely loving at the moment, all new releases, written, of course, by Seattle chefs: Thierry Rautureau's Rover's: Recipes from Seattle's Chef in the Hat, Jerry Traunfeld's The Herbal Kitchen: Cooking with Fragrance and Flavor or Greg Atkinson's The Herbal Kitchen: Cooking with Fragrance and Flavor.
Our campaign ends next Friday, December 23rd. All the winners will be announced and prizes sent to corresponding winners after January 1st 2006. The campaign has already surpassed $7,800 dollars.
So whether you bid for this yummy package for yourself or gift it for someone in your family or circle of friends, or go for any of the other things available from all over the globe, please join our effort and donate away using the Donate To Unicef button below. And thank you from all of us.
